Hello friends,

Do you have a big idea? Maybe you want to learn how to cook, start a small business, or finally start exercising. But every time you think about it, you say the same thing: "I will start when the time is perfect."

I have a little bit of "real talk" for you today: The perfect time does not exist. It is a ghost. If you keep waiting for it, you will be waiting forever.

The "Perfect Time" is a Lie

We think the perfect time means:

  • Having plenty of extra money.

  • Feeling 100% full of energy.

  • Having no problems at home or work.

  • Being sure that we will not fail.

But life is never like that! Life is messy. There will always be a bill to pay, a car that needs fixing, or a day when you feel tired. If you wait for all your problems to go away before you start, you are playing a game you can never win.

The Clock Never Stops

Think about a clock on the wall. Tick, tock, tick, tock.

That clock does not care if you are ready. It does not care if you are scared. It just keeps moving. Whether you start your project today or not, a year from now is still going to arrive.

Imagine it is one year from today:

  • Option A: You started today. You made some mistakes, you learned a lot, and now you are much better at what you do.

  • Option B: You waited for the "perfect time." You are exactly where you are right now, only you are one year older.

Which one makes you feel prouder? Option A is always the winner.

You Might as Well Try

Since the time is going to pass anyway, why not spend it trying?

When you "try," you are moving. Even if you move slowly, you are ahead of the person who is standing still. Trying gives you information. It tells you what works and what doesn't. Waiting gives you nothing but gray hair and worry.

You don't have to be great to start. You just have to start to be great.

How to Start Today (In 5 Minutes)

Don't try to do everything at once. That is too scary! Just do one tiny thing:

  • Want to write a book? Write just three sentences today.

  • Want to get fit? Walk to the end of your street and back.

  • Want to learn a language? Learn how to say "Hello" and "Thank you."

Once you start, the "fear" usually goes away. The hardest part is always the very first step.

Final Thought

The clock is ticking. You can't stop it, but you can choose how to use it. Don't let another month disappear into the "I'll do it later" pile.

Pick up your "tools" and start. Even a messy start is better than no start at all. You have what it takes, and the time is going to pass anyway—you might as well spend it becoming the person you want to be.

Go for it!
